Disinfection and sterilization of fish ponds (culture ponds), stocking of fry, feed feeding, water quality regulation, daily management and harvesting for market, etc. Different fish species require different stocking densities and feed amounts, and you can determine these according to the habits of the fish species.

Currently common fish farming methods include:

1. Pond fish farming

Ponds are the most common fish farming method in rural areas, especially in mountainous and hilly regions. Usually a dam is built in a low-lying spot at the foot of a mountain or on the mountainside, and a small pond is created. This way you can both raise fish and use it to irrigate downstream farmland during the dry season.

2. Rice paddy fish farming

Rice paddy fish farming is more common in mountainous areas of Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou and other regions, and the species raised is usually a type called rice flower fish. When using rice paddies for fish farming, the field ridges must be raised higher, and it is best to install a blocking net at the drainage outlet. Then dig a few deep trenches in the paddy field to facilitate the fish's movement. The water level in the paddy field must also be checked regularly, and water must be replenished promptly when there is not enough.

3. Reservoir or lake fish farming

Reservoirs have broad water areas, but of course this is not extensive farming; rather, a small area is enclosed with nets so the fish cannot escape. Management is similar to pond fish farming, and the point requiring special attention is regularly checking the sturdiness of the enclosure, otherwise if the fish escape, all the farming effort is wasted.

4. Gravity-flow fish farming

The water used for fish farming undergoes no treatment at all, and the natural drop formed by the terrain can be used to make water flow continuously through the fish pond without any power. This type of facility is simple and economical, but it is limited by geographical conditions and affected by climate.

5. Open recirculating flowing water aquaculture

Its main feature is choosing a natural water body to serve as both a storage reservoir and a purification pond. Power is needed to pump water into the flowing water pond, and the drainage from the flowing water pond still returns to the original pond. The fish farming system is always connected to the natural water of the external water source, so it is called open. Because of its low technical requirements, simple equipment and easy construction, this method is currently mostly used in our country.

Before farming fish, farmers should ideally understand the local market conditions and master farming techniques, so as to maximize the guarantee of farming profits.
