In duck and goose farming, the first step is to select good duck and goose chicks; next, before they enter the house, comprehensive fumigation and spray disinfection must be carried out, and the vacant house period must be appropriate. In addition, during the brooding period, the duck and goose flock must be evenly distributed and their feeding activity normal. Feeding is mainly based on grain and seed feeds, bran and middlings, root tubers, tubers and melons, distillers' grains and other feeds.

Commonly used feeds for ducks and geese include:

1. Grain and seed feeds include corn, wheat, wheat bran, barley, oats, sorghum, broken rice, paddy rice, millet, wheat middlings, etc. If sorghum is used for feeding, it must be crushed, or soaked soft in water and fed after the sorghum sprouts. The outer husk of paddy rice is very hard, so it must first be ground into powder before feeding; because the husk of paddy rice has a high fiber content, it should be fed sparingly.

2. Bran and middlings feeds include wheat bran, corn bran, unified bran, etc. These three feeds all contain very high crude fiber; if wheat bran and corn bran are used to feed laying ducks and meat ducks, their content in the feed must not exceed 15%. These three brans are also good feeds for geese, and generally must not exceed 20% in the feed.

3. Root tubers, tubers and melons include potato, sweet potato (sweet potato), sugar beet, carrot, pumpkin, zucchini, etc. They are all also good feeds for feeding ducks and geese. If a mixed powder feed is used to feed ducks and geese inside the shed, and trace elements and multivitamin components are added to the feed, then there is no need to add root tubers, tubers and green fodder.

4. Distillers' grains and residue feeds include distillers' grains, brewer's grains, okara, sugar beet pulp, etc., all of which can be used to feed ducks and geese.

In addition, inorganic salt feeds such as shell powder, stone powder, eggshell powder, bone meal, table salt, etc. can all be used to feed ducks and geese, but it should be noted that the amount fed must be well controlled at different stages of the ducks' and geese's growth.
