What are the scientific breeding methods for Angora rabbits?
Now the domestic demand for rabbit wool is constantly rising, and the price is constantly increasing. The breeding of Angora rabbits has thus become highly profitable. Moreover, breeding Angora rabbits is currently a national poverty alleviation project, so what are the scientific Angora rabbit breeding methods?
1. Breed selection
There are quite a few breeds of Angora rabbits. When selecting a breed, you need to choose Angora rabbits that are robust, with full coats, smooth wool, and strong disease resistance. Once a good breed is chosen, raising them brings higher profits and greater returns. When selecting a breed, you also need to consider which Angora rabbit is suited to the local climate.
2. Construction of the breeding farm
The breeding site for Angora rabbits is also very important. When choosing a site, you need to select an environment that is warm in winter and cool in summer, dry, and well ventilated. The Angora rabbit breeding farm is best located in a quiet place without industrial pollution, otherwise it will affect the growth of the Angora rabbits. Angora rabbits are generally raised in cages. When building the breeding farm, place the cages according to a three-dimensional breeding layout, and make sure the cages have a place for the Angora rabbits to drink water and eat food.
2. Feeding and raising
Angora rabbits are a bit larger than ordinary rabbits, so during the raising process you must leave enough activity space for the rabbits. This allows the Angora rabbits to grow better. When raising them, feed them on a fixed schedule, letting the rabbits eat three times a day. The feed should be mainly green grass feed, supplemented by concentrated feed, and water should be given on time every day. In the hot summer, avoid feeding during high temperatures to increase the rabbits' appetite. During the raising process, the rabbits' food and drinking water both need to be kept safe and hygienic, otherwise the rabbits will get sick.
3. Daily management
The daily management of Angora rabbits is relatively simple: clean up every day, promptly remove droppings and clean the cages, and disinfect the drinking troughs and feeding troughs every week.. After the rabbits finish eating each time, clean up promptly to prevent the food from rotting and affecting the rabbits' health. In summer, cool the Angora rabbits appropriately, and in winter keep the rabbits warm. The daily environment should be ventilated, and the rabbit cages should be kept dry.
4. Disease prevention and control
The main purpose of raising Angora rabbits is high-quality rabbit wool, so special attention must be paid to mange and ringworm diseases, and the rabbits should be appropriately injected with some antibiotics. At the same time, prevention of rabbit plague and other common diseases must also be done well: give the rabbits regular physical examinations and vaccinate them on time. If a rabbit develops a disease, take it to a veterinarian promptly for treatment.
5. Promoting wool growth and harvesting wool
To improve returns, you can appropriately promote wool growth in Angora rabbits. When promoting wool growth, you can give the rabbits some trace elements or other nutrients. Once the wool has grown out, the wool can be harvested. Angora rabbits produce wool for only three or four months in a year, and you cannot pluck all the rabbit wool completely. You need to give the rabbits time to adapt.
Raising Angora rabbits is not complicated, and as rabbit wool prices have been constantly climbing in recent years, the profits from raising Angora rabbits have also become higher and higher. With policy support as well, the prospects for raising them are very optimistic.
