How to Grow a Dragon Bone Plant? A Detailed Guide to Its Care
1. Soil
The dragon bone plant is not demanding about soil; it likes loose, airy soil, and generally a sandy soil with humus is used.
2. Light
It needs plenty of sunlight. When the temperature is suitable, it can be placed directly in the sun. When the temperature is above 35°C, shade it or move it to a cool spot with indirect light to avoid scorching the leaves.
3. Water
Its appearance and habits are similar to those of a cactus: its rhizome is thick and it is drought-tolerant, so there is no need to water it too much. In summer, water once every 5 days; in winter, once a month.
4. Temperature
The optimum temperature for the dragon bone plant is between 25-35°C, so during the growing season do not leave it outdoors where it is too hot or too cold; if the temperature is unsuitable, bring it back indoors promptly.
5. Fertilizing
During the growing season, fertilizer can be applied appropriately, generally once a month. You can choose rotted chicken manure and cow manure, and apply a light dose.
