Analysis of the Farming Techniques and Prospects of Whiteleg Shrimp
At present, people's requirements for meat-based diets are becoming increasingly strict, and the variety is also growing. Shrimp has gradually made its way onto people's dining tables. Among them, whiteleg shrimp is the species with the highest yield among shrimp, and more and more people are farming whiteleg shrimp. What are the farming techniques for whiteleg shrimp? How are the farming prospects?
I. Farming Techniques for Whiteleg Shrimp
1. Farming site: For farming whiteleg shrimp, it is best to choose a site with flat terrain and muddy or sandy bottom soil. The seawater and freshwater quality must also be pollution-free, and there must be a sufficient power supply. The bottom of the farming pond should be level and firm, with the bottom sloping toward the center in a furrow pattern. Drainage pipes should be installed at the bottom of the pond, and the pond depth should preferably be 2 to 2.5 m.
2. Disinfection and sterilization: Before stocking shrimp fry, the shrimp pond must be disinfected and sterilized to ensure the healthy growth of whiteleg shrimp. One month before stocking the fry, quicklime should be added to the shrimp pond for disinfection; one week before stocking, an appropriate amount of bleaching powder should be added to the shrimp pond. A certain amount of water fertilizer can also be added to the shrimp pond to provide a growing environment for whiteleg shrimp.
3. Selection of shrimp fry: Whiteleg shrimp is native to the saltwater of South America. Its introduction into China mainly uses freshwater farming, so shrimp fry that have undergone desalination treatment should be selected. Varieties with high market demand should also be chosen according to market needs.
4. Regulating water quality: In the process of farming whiteleg shrimp, changing the water is very troublesome, so water quality needs to be managed. For example, reducing feed when changing water keeps the water clean, and adjustments should also be made according to seasonal changes so as not to affect the growth of the shrimp.
5. Feeding: In the early stage of whiteleg shrimp farming, feed twice a day; in the middle stage, feed 3 times a day; in the late stage, feed 4 times a day. When feeding, sprinkle the feed evenly along the pond edges.
6. Disease prevention and control. Once whiteleg shrimp becomes diseased, it is very difficult to recover, so prevention is the main approach. Mainly use dibromohydantoin compound disinfectant once every ten to fifteen days, with a dosage of 0.1 g per cubic meter of water, dissolved in water and evenly sprinkled over the whole pond.‘’
7. Harvesting: Whiteleg shrimp can be harvested and sold after 65 to 80 days of farming, when they reach 60 to 70 g. They can be caught with shrimp cage nets, or harvested by draining the pond.
II. Farming Prospects for Whiteleg Shrimp
1. Market price: At present, many places in China have whiteleg shrimp farming bases, and the market price is not cheap. The price of shrimp is related to many factors, such as the farming region, shrimp size, and freshness of the shrimp. The market price is generally 25 yuan to 50 yuan per jin.
2. Market demand: Whiteleg shrimp is currently a relatively popular seafood on the market. Domestic consumption is relatively large, and there is also a very high export volume. With the development of fresh logistics, the market will further expand, and demand will continue to rise.
3. Farming costs. At present, the farming cost of whiteleg shrimp is relatively high, because the farming techniques are not yet very refined, and technical problems often occur. Pond management and renovation costs, plus the costs of equipment, feed, management, and so on, total around 15,000, and the cost of farming one mu is around 14,000.
4. Farming yield: At present, farming whiteleg shrimp for two crops a year can produce more than 300,000 shrimp, weighing more than 3,000 jin.
5. Farming prospects: At present, market demand for shrimp is continuously rising, and the market for whiteleg shrimp is often in short supply, so the farming prospects are very good.
The farming techniques for whiteleg shrimp are constantly developing, and future farming yields will become higher and higher. Moreover, people's demand for shrimp is also continuously rising, so the farming prospects are still very promising.
