How much does a domestic Chinese Crested Dog cost, and how should you care for one?
The Chinese Crested Dog is one of the few hairless dog breeds in the world. Only the head, tail and legs are covered with hair. It has a lively and cheerful personality, is gentle and loves cleanliness, making it a very suitable animal for keeping at home. How much does it cost to buy a Chinese Crested Dog? And how should we care for one properly?
How much does a Chinese Crested Dog cost
The Chinese Crested Dog gets its name because the hair on its head resembles the official hat of a Qing dynasty official. Its funny-cute appearance and gentle temperament make it quite popular. The current market price for a domestic Chinese Crested Dog is generally between 2500-5000 yuan. A Chinese Crested Dog of average appearance and bloodline costs roughly 3000-4000 yuan. The purer the bloodline, the higher the price. The price of a show-class Chinese Crested Dog is on another level entirely.
How to care for a Chinese Crested Dog
Different breeds of dogs have different care methods. Because of its unique appearance, the Chinese Crested Dog has some points that need extra attention during care.
1. Food
During care, we should help the dog develop good habits and teach it to eat at a fixed place and on time. This means that in our daily feeding routine, we should keep providing food at the same place and at the same time. The amount given should be moderate, neither letting it go hungry nor overfeeding it. When choosing ingredients, pay attention to balancing meat and vegetables. Each day you can provide the dog with about 200-250 grams of fresh chicken, pork, beef or fish. When feeding, cook the meat until half done and chop it up. Note here that you must not give the Chinese Crested Dog meat with bones to gnaw on, because it has no premolars. For vegetarian food, the main items are fresh vegetables and biscuits. The vegetables only need a brief blanching in water and do not require much processing. Chocolate, onions and scallions must never be fed to a Chinese Crested Dog, otherwise it can easily become ill.
2. Skin and coat care
Ordinary dogs mainly cool down by opening their mouths and sticking out their tongues, but the Chinese Crested Dog is different: it sweats directly through the sweat glands in its skin. This means we need to bathe the dog often to keep its skin clean. When bathing, first adjust the water temperature and do not make it too hot. Do not use bathing products that are too irritating to the skin. After washing, generally apply a suitable amount of skin-care oil or grease to keep its skin smooth. The Chinese Crested Dog's skin is relatively sensitive, so the home environment should be kept clean and tidy; as far as possible, remove furniture and objects with sharp edges and corners from the dog's activity area to protect its skin from being scratched. In addition, because the Chinese Crested Dog is allergic to wool, it is best for the owner not to wear wool clothing when near it. When going out in summer, be sure to put sun protection gear on the dog, and when going out in winter, focus on keeping it warm and protected from the cold.
3. Exercise
As a small domestic dog, the Chinese Crested Dog does not need a large amount of exercise. Generally, simply setting aside part of its living area as an activity space and providing small toys is enough to ensure its daily exercise. Its forms of exercise are mainly trotting, walking and moving about. Here too, note that you must not give it sharp toys or toys with corners.
4. Health
During care, we need to pay attention to whether the dog's daily food intake is normal, whether its excrement is normal, whether its nose is appropriately dry or moist, whether it is as playful and active as usual, and whether it has a cold. If there are accidents or severe symptoms, it must be taken to the vet promptly.
The Chinese Crested Dog is small in size, has no body odour, loves cleanliness and is fairly devoted to its home, and is friendly to humans. If you want to keep a Chinese Crested Dog, an ordinary family can generally afford its price, and as long as you pay attention to each key point of care, you will definitely be able to take good care of your dog.
