How Big Can a Mini Pig Grow? A Detailed Guide to Adult Weight Ranges
The mini pig is a miniature pig breed, and its weight rarely exceeds 30 kg (pet mini pigs generally do not exceed 20 kg), and it is found only in our country worldwide. At 6 months of age, male Xiang pigs have an average weight of 14.2 kg, body length of 65 cm, body height of 33 cm, and chest circumference of 55 cm; sows at 8 months of age weigh 30 kg, with a body length of 70 cm, body height of 47 cm, and chest circumference of 73 cm.
The mini pig generally refers to the Bama Xiang pig, also known as the "mini pig," and popularly praised as "seven-li fragrance" and "ten-li fragrance." It originated in ethnic minority mountain areas. Although it was raised in ancient times, its numbers were extremely small; it was used only as a "tribute" exclusively for the enjoyment of the imperial relatives and nobility, and common people were not allowed to eat it, which limited the development of the Xiang pig. After Liberation, it was on the verge of extinction. It was not until the late 1980s, during a national survey of livestock and poultry resources, that it was discovered, when only a few dozen head remained.
