Gouramis can grow 10-15 cm long. Gouramis are mainly divided into two major categories: the blue gourami and the yellow gourami. The blue gourami has an oval-shaped body, with pelvic fins in the thoracic position, which have degenerated into filaments reaching the tail and serve as tactile organs. The yellow gourami has a short but tall dorsal fin, slightly yellow in color, which when spread out flutters like a small flag.

1. Blue Gourami

The body is oval-shaped and laterally compressed, with a medium-sized head and large eyes located at the center of the sides of the head. From the chest and abdomen to the end of the caudal peduncle, the body forms a long arc. The pelvic fins are in the thoracic position and have degenerated into filaments reaching the tail, serving as tactile organs. The adult fish is about 10-15 cm in body length. Its entire body is blue-gray, with a light yellow belly. Under weak light, the body emits a gorgeous and colorful violet hue. There are 3 black spots on the sides of its body. The dorsal fin, anal fin and caudal fin are gray, and each fin has white pearl-like spots.

2. Yellow Gourami

The dorsal fin is short but tall, slightly yellow in color, and when spread out flutters like a small flag. The anal fin is very long, extending from the chest all the way back to the base of the caudal fin. It is pale yellow with a bright orange-red broad margin, and when swimming looks just like a soft skirt hem fluttering in the wind. Gouramis are suitable for living in water at a temperature of 22-27°C, and they do not have high requirements for water quality. When there is a lack of oxygen in the water, they can directly surface to breathe.
