How much does a Cocker Spaniel cost? An introduction to breed identification methods
The Cocker Spaniel is a small hunting dog originally from Spain. It has a gentle temperament and is loyal to its owner, making it very popular with people. Now on the market, how much does a Cocker Spaniel cost? How should we identify the breeds of Cocker Spaniels?
1. How much does a Cocker Spaniel cost
An ordinary Cocker Spaniel at the household pet level currently averages around 1300 yuan. Cocker Spaniels from kennels have a high purity of bloodline, so the price is higher, roughly above 3000 yuan. And show-grade Cocker Spaniels are generally above 5000.
2. How to identify the breeds of Cocker Spaniels
There are currently two main breeds, the English Cocker Spaniel and the American Cocker Spaniel, and we can distinguish them by the following points.
1. Compare by body size. The English Cocker is about 3 cm taller than the American Cocker. The English Cocker Spaniel has an average shoulder height of 40 cm, while the American Cocker Spaniel has an average shoulder height of around 37 cm.
2. Compare by head. The English Cocker's head is flatter than the American Cocker's; the eyes are oval and medium in size; the stop, muzzle and upper lip are moderate, not exaggerated. The American Cocker Spaniel has a round head, and its eyes are rounder and larger than the English Cocker's; the stop is deeper, the muzzle is square and full, and the upper lip covers the lower jaw.
3. Compare by nose. A straight nasal bridge indicates an English Cocker Spaniel; a curved nasal bridge indicates an American Cocker Spaniel. This is also an important feature by which people usually identify them.
4. Compare by body and coat. The English Cocker Spaniel's coat is silky in texture. The head is covered with fine, short hair, and the body's coat hangs straight with waves, moderate and not exaggerated, so the limbs can be seen. The American Cocker Spaniel has long ears with a large amount of feathered fringe. The furnishings on the entire body and limbs are very abundant, like a small blanket, and the coat is silky, flat or slightly wavy.
5. Compare by tail. The English Cocker's tail is lower than the American Cocker's. But neither will stand upright; the height is about the same as the back.
Whether it is the English Cocker Spaniel or the American Cocker Spaniel, both are hunting dogs. They love exercise, are full of energy, and also like to stick close to people, making them more suitable for people who love sports and have time to keep them.
