How to Raise Silkworms? A Detailed Guide to Key Silkworm Rearing Techniques
Raising silkworms requires choosing a production site with a clean environment, with requirements for temperature, humidity and light; during the young silkworm stage, the rearing room must have good heat and moisture retention; during the grown silkworm stage, the rearing room must have good ventilation conditions; temperature control also differs at different stages, generally kept at 24-25 degrees. Promptly do the work of expanding and evening out the rearing beds.
How to Raise Silkworms
I. Site Requirements
During the young silkworm stage, the rearing room must have good heat and moisture retention and well-sealed doors and windows; during the grown silkworm stage, the rearing room must have enough space, good ventilation conditions, and also screen windows and screen doors to prevent flies from getting in and reduce the occurrence of silkworms with maggot disease.
II. Management at Different Stages
During silkworm rearing, temperature and humidity must be strictly controlled, generally kept at 24-25 degrees, with a wet-dry difference of 1-2°C for dark protection and supplementary incubation, and hatching performed every other day. When hatching, raise the temperature to 27-28°C with a wet-dry difference of 1-2°C. Spring silkworms are generally hatched at 8-9 a.m., and autumn silkworms are generally hatched at around 7 a.m.
III. Supplemental Medication
Supplemental feeding of miecanying can prevent maggot disease. Feed once on the second or third day of the fourth instar; starting on the second day of the fifth instar, feed once, then every other day thereafter, and feed once more when mature silkworms appear.
