The hamster is a small domestic pet. They are lively by nature and have a cute, endearing look, making them very popular with the public. So how should such adorable hamsters be raised?

Hamster Breeding Techniques

1. We can buy a pet wire cage, which already comes equipped with a water dispenser, food bowl, and other small equipment suitable for hamsters to move around in. Decide the number based on the size of the cage; do not overcrowd it. Otherwise, the hamsters will bite each other.

2. The bottom of the wire cage should be covered with wood shavings, kept as soft and loose as possible so the hamsters can burrow and crawl easily. The wood shavings can also absorb the hamsters' droppings well. However, they must be replaced promptly, generally once a week. In summer, when it is too hot and the hamsters drink too much water, the odor is strong, so they can be changed every 3 days, depending on the situation.

3. You can buy hamster-specific food at a pet store; in cm there are various coarse grains and dried fruits such as millet, peanuts, and sunflower seeds. In daily life, we can also prepare some fruit to feed it. If conditions allow, we can also appropriately feed it some mealworms, but they should not be given too much.

4. Hamsters must not be washed with water. They love cleanliness very much, so you can buy bath salt for them to use. Hamsters will roll their bodies in the bath salt on their own to clean their fur.

5. If male and female hamsters that are not kept together are to mate, before putting them in the same cage, you can first let them make tentative contact. If the contact goes fairly well, then put them in the same cage to be raised until they mate.

6. A pregnant female hamster does not show obvious changes in the early stage. Shortly before giving birth, you can clearly see that her body becomes larger and clumsier, like a pear shape. At this time, we can take out the active male hamster. Put more wood shavings in the mother hamster's cage, and ensure an ample supply of water and food.

7. After the mother hamster gives birth to the pups, we should not turn over the wood shavings or directly touch the pups. This easily startles the mother hamster and also makes the pups pick up our scent. In this situation, the mother hamster will eat the pups.

8. After the young hamsters have lived with the mother hamster for a period of time and have grown full fur and can crawl and walk, they can be separated into different cages.

Raising hamsters is actually not complicated. As long as you prepare enough food and water for them, they are still very willing to interact with you. Of course, we should also pay attention to the hamsters' health and care for them carefully.
