How to raise guppy fry to improve the survival rate
The scientific name of the guppy is Poecilia reticulata, also known as the million fish, rainbow fish, rainbow guppy, guppy, and so on. It is one of the favorite types of fish kept by aquarium hobbyists. Its body colors are gorgeous and it is lively and active, deeply loved by the public. So below we will introduce to you how to raise guppy fry well and produce good guppies.
How to raise guppy fry?
1. Fish tank preparation
Before putting guppy fry in, be sure to clean and disinfect thoroughly. Generally, the boiling water disinfection method is used; disinfection is both thorough and environmentally friendly. After disinfection is completed, the water must be conditioned, that is, the chlorine in the tap water must be allowed to evaporate, and a nitrification system must be established.
2. Putting in the fry
When putting in the fry, be sure to be gentle and careful, and do not let the guppy fry be frightened. The stocking density should not be too high, and the adult fish's individual size should be taken into consideration.
3. Temperature control
Keep the fish tank temperature at around 25 degrees. In addition, when you bring the guppy fry home, do not rush to open the packaging bag; first rinse the packaging bag clean with water. Then place the packaging bag into the tank for about 20 to 30 minutes, so that the water in the bag and the water in the tank reach the same temperature.
4. Feeding
Guppy fry can be fed paramecia, brine shrimp, and tubifex, along with cooked egg yolk, or they can be directly fed ready-made feed purchased from an aquarium shop. Usually, in the early stage, the fry should be fed 4-6 times a day, in small amounts but frequently; in the later stage, feeding 2-3 times a day is enough.
5. Daily management
During the rearing process, promptly clean up feces and leftover food to avoid water quality deterioration that could cause guppy disease. At the same time, pay attention to the occurrence of conditions such as white spot disease, white spot disease, pinecone disease, and mouth rot.
Guppies are gentle and lively in temperament, but they can be kept together with gentle small and medium-sized tropical fish. You can choose combinations for raising according to your situation.
