Guppies are tropical fish, and there are many varieties. They are generally found in the lower reaches of rivers as well as lakes, marshes and ditches in some tropical regions, and their wild habitats are diverse, mainly inhabiting freshwater river basins and lakes and marshes. So what varieties are there? Let's find out together with the editor of Tuliu.com below.

What varieties of guppies are there?

1. Swordtail series guppies

The tail of this strain of guppy is not fan-shaped but needle-shaped, like the form of a sword. It is very distinctive, and according to the different shapes of the swordtail, it can also be divided into double swordtail, upper swordtail and lower swordtail, with relatively diverse colors.

2. Solid color series guppies

Solid color guppies are actually those whose entire color is one main tone. The mainstream colors include red, ink blue and white gold (the white gold later gave rise to a series called the platinum series), as well as albino strains of the solid color series, such as all-red albino.

3. Grass-tail guppies

This variety has small black dots on the tail that are not connected to one another. The denser and finer the dots, the larger the upper tail, and the larger the contact surface between the dorsal fin and the body, the better the quality. Representative fish of this strain include blue grass tail, red grass tail, yellow grass tail, lace grass tail, and others.

4. Mosaic guppies

This variety is the most famous among the many guppy varieties. Its characteristic is that the pattern on the caudal fin has clear lines, very much like a finely inlaid mosaic. Its representative fish include red mosaic, yellow mosaic, white mosaic, blue mosaic, snake king mosaic, tuxedo mosaic, and others.

5. Tuxedo guppies

This variety has a black area at the caudal peduncle, and that black patch is called the “tuxedo spot”, which is the special emblem of this strain. Representative fish of this strain include yellow-tail tuxedo, blue-tail tuxedo, red-tail tuxedo, and others.

In addition, there are also many beautiful varieties such as snake king guppies, metal guppies, glass guppies, and so on, which everyone can choose and keep according to their own preferences.
