Guppies do not need to be fed on the first day after birth. Starting from the second day, feed them live brine shrimp nauplii or some cooked egg yolk. For the first four weeks, the feeding amount is relatively large, making sure the fry eat until full, then gradually reduce it. After five months, feeding twice a day, morning and evening, is enough. When they grow a bit larger, you can feed them paramecia, brine shrimp, and aquatic earthworms. Once they become adult fish, you can feed them small insects and crumbs, etc. In addition, during the feeding process, pay attention to the following points:

Key points for feeding guppies

1. Feed in stages

Fry stage: At this time they are in the growth and development stage, and they need a large amount of nutrition to fully develop. Usually, after one feeding, the food needs to be finished within five minutes, and they may need to be fed seven or eight times a day.

Adult stage: Since the body has fully developed, the purpose of feeding is to let the adult fish maintain their body condition, so it is only necessary to provide enough nutrition (do not let the fish become thin). It is recommended to feed adult fish over six months old only two meals.

2. Feeding time

If there are no problems and the condition is good, you should also feed less, preferably in the morning. Any uneaten bait should be scooped out promptly, and the fish's feeding time should be controlled within five minutes.

3. Bait selection

At present, there are three types on the market: flake feed, pellet feed, and frozen feed. Generally, it is recommended to choose live bait first, with tubifex as the first choice. This is because tubifex has very high nutritional value and can survive for a long time. It will promote the guppies not to eat, thereby strengthening the growth rate of guppies. Moreover, tubifex can also be used as medicated bait. First feed the medicine to the tubifex to turn it into a medicinal carrier, then give it to the guppies to eat, and the effect is quite good. However, be careful to do double disinfection treatment before feeding.

When feeding guppies, pay attention to balanced nutrition. Do not feed the same kind of feed for a long time, so as to avoid affecting their growth rate and coloration.
