Conophytum is a succulent that goes dormant in summer and produces small yellow flowers in autumn. So how do you grow it?

How to grow Conophytum?

1. In spring, as the plant grows, the fruit gradually ripens and should be harvested. By late spring and early summer, the old leaves of most varieties gradually become thinner, and 2 pairs of new leaves gradually form inside the old leaves. After the weather turns cool in autumn, the new leaves grow further, burst through the old leaves and emerge.

2. During the high temperatures of summer, the plant is in a dormant state and can be kept in a ventilated, cool place for care. Water only a small amount when the soil is excessively dry, or even withhold water completely, to prevent rot.

3. In autumn the plant begins to grow and blooms with beautiful flowers. It can be moved to a bright spot and watered appropriately. Well-growing plants can be given a monthly application of fully decomposed, diluted liquid fertilizer. When flowering, pay attention to the timing for hand pollination.

4. In winter, plenty of sunlight is required. If the nighttime temperature can be kept above 12°C and the daytime temperature above 20°C, normal watering can continue, and some thin fertilizer can be applied as appropriate on clear mornings. If the temperature is lower, watering must be controlled and fertilizing stopped to let it go dormant.

When Conophytum is in full sun, its ribs turn red, and it also has a peeling period. During the peeling period of Conophytum, be careful to give it more sun and less water, which can speed up peeling and allow it to grow new plants.
