The partridge, also known as the Chinese partridge, is often said by many netizens to be difficult to catch. If you are a beginner with insufficient experience, it is not surprising to say this, after all, the partridge has a very distinctive personality, but as long as you understand its personality, difficult becomes easy. Below let us take a look at the methods for catching partridges!

How to catch partridges

Find the open and dense spots on the mid-slope where partridges come to dust-bathe in the sand, set a layer of snares both above and below, and place the electronic decoy below. The electronic decoy should be 3-8 m from the snares. Set the snares well and play the call between 6 and 10 in the morning. In the afternoon, do not set snares first; at this time you should play the call, and partridges will answer from all around. From 4:30 to 6, set snares in open ground 10-20 m from the partridge. Block off the route of approach completely, then play the sound.

Snare-setting techniques for catching partridges

After preparing the trapping ground, when you begin setting snares, first observe the route of approach, and choose the narrower part of the path to set snares, as that is the only way through. Set a first layer of snares 2-3 m from the decoy point, and seal tightly all passages and gaps through which the bird might enter the decoy point. Then set another layer of snares about 5 m along the passage, so that the decoy point can be very well guarded and sealed off.

Because partridges are timid and take flight at the sight of people, try to avoid people and birds seeing each other when catching them. A partridge that has seen a person is very difficult to lure in for a short time. When creeping in at close range, move forward when the bird calls, and keep your steps light when the sound stops, taking care that the noise does not scare the partridge away.
