What feed is better for raising grass carp?
Grass carp is one of our main freshwater aquaculture fish species, with high market demand. What feed is better to choose when feeding grass carp?
1. What feed to feed grass carp
It falls into two types, grass feed and artificial feed. Grass feed includes nutgrass, small duckweed, ryegrass, Sudan grass and wild tender long-leaf grass; artificial feed is mainly pelleted feed, with rice bran, wheat bran, soybean cake and fishmeal as the main raw materials.
2. How to feed the feed
1. Grass feed: feed different grass feed according to size. During the fry stage, feed some nutgrass and small duckweed, or chop fresh tender long-leaf grass and feed it; as the fish grow, they need to transition to being fed conventional grass feed. When feeding grass to grass carp, feed on time, in sufficient quantity and evenly every day. The grass feed needs to be scattered so the fish can eat their fill. The feeding amount should also be adjusted according to weather, water quality and fish activity, to suit the fish's requirements for grass. Do not feed feed that has been stored too long or has become moldy and spoiled, to avoid disease infection.
2. Pelleted feed: large-scale farming requires feeding some feed. The feed uses rice bran, wheat bran, soybean cake and fishmeal as the main raw materials, mainly pelleted feed, with a protein content of 28-32%, supplemented by feeding some green feed. Feed twice a day; after continuous feeding of pelleted feed for a period, it is necessary to stop for one week. Usually, vitamins and other medicines should be added to the feed, which can prevent grass carp from suffering from hepatobiliary syndrome.
When raising grass carp, we should pay attention to nutritional balance, combining artificial feed with green feed.
