How to Tell Male and Female Angelfish Apart? A Detailed Guide to Identification Methods
Male angelfish are somewhat larger than female angelfish; compared with females, male angelfish have higher foreheads and lower jaws, and their body shape is closer to a disc. Male angelfish have long trailing fin filaments and very broad fins, while female angelfish are the opposite.
How to keep angelfish
1. Water quality
To keep fish, first keep the water. Angelfish like soft water, and the pH just needs to be kept between 6.5-6.8; the fluctuation range should not be too large. Otherwise it will cause discomfort to the fish and bring unnecessary trouble. In addition, the dissolved oxygen content of the water must be sufficient, which requires paying attention to strong aeration during the earlier water conditioning process, since angelfish have a relatively large demand for dissolved oxygen.
2. Water changes
Another point is water changes. Angelfish are rather delicate and need frequent water changes; changing the water once a day is not excessive, it is very normal, do not worry about changing too much water, that is what angelfish like. Changing one quarter to one fifth at a time is fine (that is how I do it); everyone can use it as a reference. Discus angelfish prefer old water, but this does not conflict with frequent water changes; you must keep the water continuously renewed.
3. Water temperature
As for water temperature, it is best to keep it at around 28 degrees, which is the temperature most tropical fish prefer. Regarding water treatment and replacement, fish keepers point out that changing the water daily with tap water that has been aerated and sun-dried is enough.
