The Danish campanula has a sturdy plant form, with bell-shaped flowers that resemble strings of clear-sounding wind chimes. When the flowers bloom, it is like writing a fairy tale, making it a true internet-famous flower. So, what are the cultivation methods for Danish campanula?

1. Cultivation Methods for Danish Campanula

1. Temperature: It prefers cool conditions, with the most suitable growing temperature between 15 and 24 degrees. It is not tolerant of dry heat; if kept above 25 degrees for a long time, growth and flowering will be affected, and it will easily wither. Its cold tolerance is not strong; if kept below 15 degrees for a long time, growth will slow down and the number of flowers will decrease noticeably.

2. Humidity: It does not demand much humidity, with a suitable humidity range of 40 to 75%.

3. Light: It likes ample light but cannot tolerate scorching sun. It is slightly tolerant of partial shade. If light is insufficient for a long time, it will not only cause leggy growth but also hinder the formation of new buds and flowering.

4. Soil: It prefers deep, fertile, neutral soil with good drainage, and can also grow normally in slightly alkaline soil.

5. Watering: Water when the surface soil feels dry, alternating between dry and moist. Avoid waterlogging. If the soil stays too wet for a long time, root rot is likely to occur. When the growing medium is peat soil, water when the pot feels light when lifted.

6. Fertilizer: It is a flowering plant, so fertilizer rich in phosphorus and potassium is suitable. However, it does not have high fertilizer requirements; a small amount of fertilizer during the vigorous growth period is enough.

 7. Pests and Diseases: Common pests include fungus gnats, which can be controlled with small white granules produced by Sumitomo of Japan or the domestic product Huhuashen, combined with yellow sticky traps. Sometimes caterpillars may also be found causing trouble; if there are only a few, they can be removed by hand.

2. Post-Bloom Care and Propagation

Because the growing period is relatively short, seed sowing is commonly used for propagation. After blooming heavily, it will produce seeds. When summer arrives and the flowering season ends, be sure to collect the seeds. It is suitable for autumn sowing, and seedlings should be raised by sowing in September to October. In an environment of 15 to 20 degrees, seedlings generally emerge in just over two weeks. Before emergence, keep the soil moist and water lightly. After emergence, expose them to sunlight promptly to prevent leggy growth.

When Danish campanula blooms profusely, the flower quantity is astonishing; the small purple flowers will bloom all over the pot, with the leaves almost invisible. Keeping a few pots at home can not only add color but also lift your mood.
