An Introduction to the Living Habits and Behavioral Characteristics of Lions
Lions live year-round on tropical savannas and generally live more than twenty years. They live in groups, and each group has a leader; within each group's territory, the tasks everyone must perform and the territory they occupy are very clearly defined, and they prove themselves through strength. In terms of hunting, lionesses are the main hunters, and all other weaker animals living within the same territory may become prey.
Little-Known Facts About Lions
1. Not all male lions have manes. In our impression, lionesses are relatively smaller in size and have no manes, while male lions are larger and have thick manes on their heads, but the Tsavo lions living in Kenya and Tanzania are the only kind of lion in which the males also have no manes.
2. Lions exist not only in Africa; there are lions in Asia too. In India's Gir Forest National Park, more than 300 Asiatic lions now live. These more than 300 Asiatic lions are all descendants of 13 lions——in 1907, Asiatic lions were hunted by people until only 13 remained, and later people captured all 13 of these lions and kept them in captivity, and afterward released them into Gir Forest National Park.
3. White lions can only be produced among Kruger lions. The white lion is a kind of lion with a snow-white appearance, similar to how the white tiger is a white variant of the Bengal tiger; all white lions are white variants of the Kruger lion. In addition, white lions and white tigers can also produce the rare white liger.
