How to Raise a Baby Bird? Detailed Guide to Feeding Methods and Precautions
Sometimes we may accidentally pick up a baby bird that has just left the nest. Faced with a life, none of us will turn a blind eye, but we don't know how to handle it. Today let's learn about how to raise a baby bird.
How to Raise a Baby Bird
1. Make a nest from a cardboard box or plastic box, with feathers or cotton wadding spread on the bottom, and pay attention to keeping it warm. If you know what species the baby bird is, you can also switch to a dedicated cage later if conditions allow.
2. Generally speaking, feeding should be based on the type of bird.
(1) Vegetarian baby birds: We can mix five-grain cereal powder with water into a paste and add an appropriate amount of egg yolk. Then use a small stick or a syringe without a needle to deliver the softened food into the bird's mouth. If the baby bird is not in good spirits, you can first feed it a little glucose water.
(2) Carnivorous baby birds: Generally, prepare fresh meat and mealworms, mince the fresh meat and cut the mealworms into segments. Then feed them.
(3) Omnivorous baby birds: Omnivorous birds can eat both kinds of food. First give the food that vegetarian birds eat; larger baby birds can also eat minced meat.
Of course, when you are still not sure of the species, start by giving paste, vegetable leaves and egg yolk.
3. When night comes, pay attention to keeping warm, and you can appropriately add some covering cloth. If the temperature is too low, you can also turn on a light bulb for warmth, but it must not be too hot, do not shine it directly, and cover the bulb with a layer of black cloth. During the warming process, also pay attention to ventilation.
4. Baby birds have a fairly large appetite, and over the course of a day, they beg for food quite frequently.
Baby birds are relatively fragile, so we should not use too much force when caring for them.
