What causes fish to lie at the bottom of the tank
Fish are ornamental not only because of their gorgeous appearance, but also because swimming back and forth in the water is a kind of dynamic beauty, but sometimes they lie motionless at the bottom of the tank, and apart from normal sleep, there is a good chance they have a health problem. Let's take a look below at what causes fish to lie at the bottom of the tank.
1. Indigestion
Slowly the fish will get through the adaptation period, and after being hungry for a long time they finally have an appetite. At this point we often make this mistake: seeing that the fish has finally started eating, we wish we could feed them more, so with a slip of the hand we overfeed, and the fish easily gets indigestion from eating too much, hiding at the bottom to slowly digest.
2. Water temperature
Water temperature that is too low will affect the fish's appetite, especially in mixed tanks, where different fish have different optimal water temperatures, which will cause some fish to eat very full while others barely eat at all, and thus have no strength to swim back and forth, and water temperature that is too low easily triggers water mold disease.
3. Poisoning
If it is summer, with ample light and poor temperature control, excess nutrients in the water easily breed algae, and too much algae may secrete some toxic substances that numb the fish's senses and nerves, so the fish naturally all lie down together.
4. Disease
If the fish lies at the bottom, and at the same time has symptoms such as a thin body and ulceration on the body surface, then unfortunately it has probably developed swim bladder inflammation. In this case it should be isolated in time, and at the same time the original tank should have its water changed and be disinfected to avoid infecting other fish. For the sick fish, medication should be given according to the different conditions.
