Are frogs protected animals? A detailed explanation in one article

Frogs are animals beneficial to agriculture, feeding mainly on insects, and the vast majority of the insects they eat are agricultural pests. So, are frogs protected animals? Let me explain below.

1. Are frogs protected animals?

Frogs are protected animals, and they are Class III national protected animals, but there is a special kind of frog that belongs to the Class II national protected animals, namely the tiger frog. Frogs are protected animals that the state prohibits hunting and killing, but in daily life many people treat frog meat as a tonic or a delicious dish, leading some vendors to hunt and kill frogs on a large scale. Hunting and killing frogs will inevitably destroy the ecological balance and cause pests to run rampant.

The tiger frog, also called the water chicken, is an aquatic frog and is known as the “frog of Asia”. Because of its unique flavor, delicious taste and high nutritional value, it is deeply loved by consumers. Due to habitat destruction and overcapture, the number of tiger frogs in nature is declining day by day, and it has now been listed as a Class II national protected animal.
