Rabbits are timid animals. Sudden loud noises, strangers and unfamiliar animals such as cats and dogs will make them panic. Especially after a mother rabbit becomes pregnant, she will become even more sensitive. So, how do you raise rabbits after they give birth?

1. How do you raise rabbits after they give birth?

When a mother rabbit is pregnant, provide her with plenty of water and food. Before giving birth, line the rabbit hutch with wood shavings, pee pads and the like, which can help prevent dampness and keep her warm. During birth, try not to disturb her; just wait quietly for her to give birth. In addition, do not clean the cage within two weeks after giving birth.

2. Precautions for Raising Rabbits

1. The living environment for rabbits should be hygienic, dry and well ventilated. If the environment is damp and unhygienic, bacteria can easily breed and cause skin diseases in rabbits;

2. It is recommended that when a young rabbit first comes home, you take it to the hospital for a stool test to check for coccidia rather than randomly feeding it coccidiostats. Coccidiosis occurs acutely. Although many young rabbits die from coccidia, quite a few rabbits are poisoned to death by coccidiostats

3. If the cage a young rabbit lives in is a dog crate, a wooden board should be added inside the cage for it to stand on. Without a standing board, over time it can develop pododermatitis, and pododermatitis is very difficult to cure;

4. If a rabbit gets diarrhea from eating vegetables, promptly give it 4 tablets of lactasin. If you do not have lactasin at home, you can also feed lactic acid bacteria tablets or probiotics;

5. A rabbit's teeth grow continuously, so you need to prepare a chew stick for it. Some rabbits like to bite electrical wires and similar things, so pay attention;

6. Rabbit supplies should be cleaned and disinfected regularly;

7. Rabbits kept in cages should be given at least 1 hour of activity time every day;

8. If you are worried about rabbits pooping everywhere, you can litter-train them. Their urine and feces should be cleaned up every day. If not cleaned up, ammonia gas will be produced after it accumulates for a long time;

9. Do not bathe young rabbits. Rabbits are very clean animals and groom themselves by licking their fur every day, so bathing them is not recommended. However, if you must bathe one, choose a day with good weather and sunshine, and avoid getting water into its ears. If you are not careful, it will get otitis media. You also cannot use human products such as body wash or soap on it. After bathing, dry it immediately, otherwise it will catch a cold;

10. Rabbits do not feel full, so you must control their food intake to prevent them from overeating to death;

11. Rabbits cannot eat too much starch. Starch is very bad for rabbits;

12. When picking up a rabbit, never grab it by the ears. The ears are important organs for rabbits. Rabbits have no sweat glands and must use their ears to dissipate heat. A rabbit's ears are not meant to be grabbed by people. If you injure a rabbit's ears and cause nerve damage, the rabbit's ears will not stand up and cannot turn. The correct way to pick up a rabbit is: support the rabbit's back with one hand, and lift the rabbit's bottom with the other hand, so that the rabbit's legs and belly both face forward.

Because rabbits have sharp hearing, a sensitive sense of smell and are good at running, when raising rabbits you must not let them be frightened.
