Sheep Feed Formula and Scientific Mixing Methods
China has a long history of sheep farming, and whether judged by number or by breed diversity, China is a major sheep-farming country in the world. As we all know, feed management is the key to raising sheep. Below, the editor will share with you a sheep feed formula.
I. Sheep Feed Formula
10-15 kg: straw biological feed 75%, cornmeal 10%, fishmeal 2.6%, salt 0.6%, shell powder 0.8%, wheat bran 5%, bone meal 1.5%, soybean cake 4.5%.
15-40 kg: straw biological feed 75%, cornmeal 5%, fishmeal 2.6%, salt 0.6%, shell powder 0.8%, wheat bran 2.5%, soybean cake 4.5%.
Over 40 kg: cornmeal 3%, fishmeal 1.4%, salt 0.6%, shell powder 0.8%, wheat bran 1.5%, bone meal 1.2%, soybean cake 1.5%.
II. Points to Note When Raising Sheep
1. Feed selection
Compared with roughage such as straw and seedlings, feed is, after all, relatively expensive. Providing nutritional supplements in normal times and increasing concentrate supplements in stages can reduce costs as much as possible while also meeting the growth needs of the sheep, allowing them to be sold earlier, locking in profits and recovering funds.
2. Rational selection of breeding stock
What matters with breeding sheep is not how many there are but their quality. Promptly cull, eliminate or sell off poor breeding rams so that the quality of the flock is improved. When necessary, artificial insemination techniques can be learned, which can greatly increase the utilization rate of breeding rams while reducing the number of animals kept.
3. Rational fattening
A period of 2-3 months is appropriate, and the fattening time should be flexibly controlled according to the body condition of the fattening sheep. During the green grass period, in places with grassy slopes, adult sheep in poor condition can first be grazed so that the green grass restores their body condition, and then they can be fattened, which can save feed and reduce costs.
4. Self-breeding and self-raising
If there are breeding rams and breeding ewes of fine breeds, they can be bred and raised on your own. At the same time, make full use of hybrid vigor. Common hybridization models include two-way crossbreeding, three-way crossbreeding, backcrossing, terminal crossbreeding, and so on. Hybrid offspring can absorb the advantages of both the sire and the dam, and the method is simple and easy to carry out.
5. Improve techniques
It is better to rely on yourself than on others. Every day, watch more, learn more and ask for more advice, and learn more about common problems, such as those related to lamb delivery, basic identification of sheep diseases, and inbreeding. These are all closely related to actual profits.
Raising sheep is actually relatively simple, and the prospects for raising them are also very broad. Friends who are interested can refer to the above formula to prepare sheep feed.
