Methods and Key Technical Points for Raising Earthworms
Earthworms can be used as feed, fish bait, and so on, and can also be used to fertilize land. At present, most of the farming industry in our country has a broad demand for earthworms. So, what is the method for raising earthworms?
1. What is the method for raising earthworms?
1. Build the worm bed: Generally, rice straw is used to build the worm bed. First spread rice straw, then spread feed, then spread rice straw again, repeating this process. Make sure the width of the worm bed is about 50 cm, and just leave an appropriate distance between the worm beds. Earthworms mainly eat decaying food. When raising them, you can use animal internal organs, decaying plants, or manure as feed. Manure is generally the more common choice because it ferments more easily and costs relatively less.
2. Stocking earthworms: Choose suitable earthworms, such as Da Ping No. 2, which is not only larger in size, but also has a longer lifespan, stronger reproductive capacity, and is easier to raise. Put the earthworms onto the worm bed, and at the same time wet the worm bed.
3. Daily management: Keep the temperature at 20-27°C, and keep the relative air humidity at 70%-80%; ventilate 3-4 times a day for 30 minutes each time; feed 2-3 times a month, and the feed must be fresh and airy.
2. Precautions for raising earthworms
There are also many points to pay attention to when raising earthworms. The bait fed to them cannot be piled up for a long time. About once a week, some of the old residual bait needs to be cleaned out. Earthworms often rely on the smell of their feces to identify their burrows, so when too much feces has accumulated and needs to be cleaned, it cannot all be cleaned away. Some relatively fresh feces need to be left behind, otherwise the earthworms will easily escape. When feeding, pay attention to feeding small amounts many times, so that the feed can be utilized by the earthworms to the greatest extent.
Overall, the method for raising earthworms is relatively simple. Farmer friends who are interested can consider raising them, but they should first find a sales channel in advance.
