Although scorpions are poisonous, the whole scorpion has high medicinal value, offering good effects for various wind rashes, stroke, hemiplegia and so on. So there are quite a lot of people breeding them at present, but how do you raise scorpions in winter?

How to Raise Scorpions in Winter?

Scorpions have the habit of hibernating in winter. When the temperature drops below 10°C, scorpions stop eating, stop moving and stop developing. When the temperature drops below 0°C, scorpions will freeze to death. Therefore, when scorpions are hibernating, ensuring a constant hibernation environment is very important. The main thing is to pay attention to the following two points:

1. Temperature

You can use solar energy, electric stoves, radiators or earthen heating to warm them, and you can also use methods such as iron stoves, heated brick beds and fire walls to warm them. Likewise, there are many ways to increase the humidity of the environment, for example: humidifying with an automatic humidity regulator, sprinkling water on the ground, spraying water mist, placing a basin of water on the stove to evaporate water vapor, placing a wet cloth or absorbent sponge on the radiator or the flue, and so on.

2. Food

Besides suitable temperature, adequate nutrition is also one of the elements that ensure quality when raising scorpions in winter. Live insects such as yellow mealworms, bread worms, ground beetles and house flies contain enough protein, fat and other components, and are better food for the scorpion diet. Therefore, the principle of raising scorpions in winter is the combination of environmental management and food feeding. In this way you can breed high-quality scorpions.

3. Techniques

Using constant-temperature breeding when raising scorpions in winter can improve space utilization. The specific method is that, according to the height of the room, the breeding racks can be divided into 3 layers and 4 layers. Generally the bottom layer is used for raising feed insects, and the remaining layers are used for raising scorpions. The reasonable height between layers is 30 cm for the bottom layer and 60 cm for the remaining layers. On the inner side of the upper edge of each layer, stick smooth materials such as glass strips or plastic film to prevent the scorpions from escaping.

Because scorpions hibernate in winter, raising them in winter is somewhat difficult. Generally, beginners are not advised to raise scorpions in winter.
