The big-headed turtle is currently also a kind of pet turtle kept daily, and quite a few people like this kind of turtle now, and it is still quite popular in the market. So how do you keep a big-headed turtle?

1. Feeding

It can still be kept mixed with other turtles, and nothing messy will happen. It is also relatively easy to keep, and it can eat some small insects and dried small shrimp, and will also eat some weeds, so feeding is quite convenient. The living habits of the big-headed turtle mean it rather likes those broad places without obstacles, such as large rivers, streams, and naturally formed ponds, which are its favorites.

2. Daily Management

The big-headed turtle has relatively high requirements for keeping temperature. It needs some natural sunlight every day to be able to move about well, and it must be exposed to it for eight to fourteen hours a day. Its water temperature requirements still change with the seasons. When it is relatively hot in summer, the water temperature should not exceed 33 degrees, or there will be adverse reactions. At night, a temperature of 24 degrees or 26 degrees is the most ideal temperature. It is also relatively strict about environmental needs, and a filter is needed for oxygen exchange, which helps their breathing, so they can easily run and jump around in the activity area.

3. Breeding

Male turtles usually need 4-8 years to reach sexual maturity, with a carapace length of 7-9 cm, while female turtles' sexual maturity period averages about 7 years (5-9), with the carapace reaching 8-10 cm. The seminal vesicles proliferate and spread and become abundant from March to June each year. The testes begin to enlarge sharply from July, reaching a peak in August, which is the period with the largest sperm reserves. After the hibernation period, sperm gradually reaches the male turtle's reproductive organs. So it is not hard to imagine why male turtles have a very strong desire to mate after the hibernation period. The female turtle's ovaries enlarge from August or September until June of the following year, and ovulation and egg laying occur in October and in June and July of the following year respectively.

Keeping the big-headed turtle is still relatively simple. If kept at home, the aquarium needs to have no obstacles, and large-scale planting can be kept mixed.
