Crabs are rich in protein, trace elements and other nutrients, and have a very good nourishing effect on the body. Some crabs can also be kept as ornamental pets, so how do you keep ornamental crabs?

1. Preparation for keeping

For first-time keeping, soak them in warm salt water for a 1-2 minute sea bath to remove parasites or lice-like organisms. New crabs usually burrow into the sand for several days to several weeks to adapt to the new environment. At this time, reduce disturbance to them, place them in a somewhat dark and quiet place, and keep changing the food daily and maintaining appropriate temperature and humidity.

2. Choosing the environment

Try to find a spot relatively close to a window, or a place where sunlight can slant in; avoid direct sun exposure. Put the tank in a lower place, with the top edge of the tank just at the lower edge of the window. The setup should include more hiding places, especially small huts, to match their habits.

3. Keeping tank

The fish tank used for keeping should be somewhat large. Put some stones, fine sand and aquatic plants on the bottom of the tank, pour in sun-exposed tap water, and the water should cover the crabs' shells.

4. Daily management

Feed 1-2 times a day, with the amount eaten within half an hour as the standard. Clean the crabs regularly, and the fish tank should be washed too. Change the water once every three days, and after changing the water, sprinkle quicklime to sterilize and disinfect.

Because the keeping environment of ornamental crabs before they are bought may not be ideal, bacteria can easily grow inside their bodies, so it is best to disinfect them before keeping them.
