How to Raise a Ferret? Detailed Explanation of Breeding Methods and Key Technical Points
Modern people all like keeping pets as companions, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, snakes, fish, squirrels, ferrets and so on. Today the editor will introduce to you here how ferrets are raised.
How to raise a ferret?
1. To raise a ferret, you must first prepare a cage, feed, food bowl, water bottle, litter box, cat litter, mat cloth and other items. Among them, the cage should be large, with a vertical grid bottom and small gaps; for feed, use feed specially made for ferrets; choose the food bowl according to body weight; use a rolling-ball water dispenser; a square litter box; choose cat litter products that will not solidify and harden and are harmless to the body.
2. Bathe once a week, clean the ears and trim the nails. After bathing, immediately wipe dry with a chamois towel and put it into a quick-dry bag to avoid catching a cold.
3. Gaps in the rearing area should be blocked to prevent it from squeezing in (such as furniture or wardrobes, etc.; basically the same as cats, as long as the head can pass through, about eighty percent of the body can pass through), and attention should be paid when entering and leaving doors.
4. Drinking water should be sufficient, the food bowl must not be empty, and the litter box should be cleaned every day. In addition, the ferret cage and hammock should be cleaned regularly.
5. Ferrets tolerate cold but not heat and are very sensitive to high temperatures. Many deaths are caused by heat stress and heat exhaustion, so the temperature in the place where ferrets are raised should not exceed 30°C. When summer comes, drinking water should be provided frequently. Ferrets lack sweat glands and dissipate heat through their lungs, so special attention should be paid to indoor air circulation and cooling measures. Be sure not to put ferrets in the sun to be exposed, or confined in a stuffy space.
When raising ferrets, vaccinations should also be given regularly, and at the appropriate time, surgery for neutering and removal of the scent glands should be done properly.
