The glass catfish is a very unusual tropical fish, with a total length of up to 10 cm. They do not live long, generally no more than two years. So how do you keep glass catfish?

1. Water quality and water temperature

The glass catfish's place of origin has alkaline soft water, so newly introduced glass catfish cannot be kept in the acidic water used for routine care. During keeping, the water temperature should not be below 22°C, with 24°C-26°C being suitable.

2. Keeping environment

Glass catfish should be kept in an environment with sufficient oxygen and a small amount of light. Environments that are too bright or too dark are both unfavorable for their growth. Special care should also be taken during maintenance so as not to injure the surface of the glass catfish's body, because once the body surface is injured it is very difficult to heal and can lead to death. Aggressive species must never be kept together in a tank with glass catfish.

3. Feed

The feed should mainly consist of nematodes and water fleas; artificial feed should not be used. The keeping water must be kept highly clean; this is an important condition for ensuring the healthy growth of glass catfish. In cloudy water, they will quickly fall ill and die.

Glass catfish are gentle in temperament, like to gather with their own kind, and are afraid of being alone; they easily die when kept by themselves. They are best kept in groups of the same species. If there are very few of the same species, they can be kept together with small fish that are gentle in temperament and slow in habits.
