How to Keep Gold Rams? Detailed Guide to Care Methods and Tips
Gold ram fish are small and delicate, with brilliant, colorful hues that look especially beautiful under lighting, and they are loved by a wide range of people. However, their lifespan is not long, and they can easily die if not given proper attention. So how do you keep gold rams?
1. Tank
The tank for keeping gold ram fish should be relatively large, because gold ram fish like to swim around everywhere, and they need enough space for activity. This also adds to the aesthetic appeal, making them very beautiful to enjoy when placed indoors.
2. Water Quality
The water for keeping gold ram fish must be kept clear, and if the water quality is found to have deteriorated, it should be changed promptly, otherwise it will be harmful to keeping gold ram fish. The pH of the water for keeping gold ram fish should be neutral; being acidic or alkaline is not good.
3. Water Temperature
The water temperature for keeping gold ram fish should be controlled at around 25°C. If it is too high, above 28°C, or too low, below 16°C, it will affect the growth of gold ram fish and slow down their growth rate, so controlling the water temperature is very important.
4. Feed
Gold ram fish are not picky eaters; they eat artificial feed as well as live bait. However, if you are going to feed gold ram fish live bait, the live bait must be disinfected. If you are feeding frozen food, it must be thawed before feeding.
5. New Fish
If the gold ram fish have just been bought, do not feed them for the first 2 days after they are placed in the tank. This is to let the fish excrete all the impurities originally in their bodies. After that, change the water in the tank and begin feeding them anew.
6. Mixed Keeping
Some peaceful-tempered fish can be kept together in several kinds, but gold ram fish generally should not be kept together with other fish. Gold ram fish are rather aggressive; besides the fear of various fish fighting each other, there is also the fear of diseases being transmitted directly among several kinds of fish.
Gold ram fish are quite delicate, so special attention must be paid when keeping them, otherwise death can easily occur, which is a great pity.
