In a seafood feast, lobster is always a must-have; the tender meat inside its hard shell has attracted a large group of fans, so it is also widely farmed in many places. Do you know where its place of origin is? And what kinds there are? Let's find out together below.

Where do lobsters originate?

The place of origin of lobsters is in Central and South America and the northeastern region of Mexico. They are now distributed across all continents of the world, generally inhabiting the seabed or shores of warm coastal waters. Lobsters produced in China are found along the coast of Guangdong, the nearshore area of the South China Sea, Hainan Island and the Xisha Islands, as well as the Zhoushan Islands in Zhejiang.

What kinds of lobsters are there?

1. Boston lobster

Boston lobster lives in the waters off the east coast of Canada and the east coast of the United States. The all-over dark green Boston lobster is characterized by a pair of large claws; because the claws are used so much, their meat is coarser. By comparison, the body has no tomalley, but the meat is more tender and fine.

2. European blue lobster

The European blue lobster is rare and precious, with a relatively long growth period. The lobster's age has little effect on the meat; regardless of size, it is tender, smooth and delicate, with a rich and refreshing sweetness. The moment it enters the mouth, you can feel the rich, sweet lobster flavor and a faint salty fragrance of the sea, so its price is extraordinary.

3. Australian lobster

Compared with other lobsters, the Australian lobster is fiery red all over with golden yellow claws, and its appearance is very striking. The meat of the Australian lobster is very tender, and the taste is very delicious. Of course, such a good-looking and tasty lobster is certainly not cheap; a jin of top-quality Australian lobster can sell for over a thousand yuan.
