Farmers who raise pigs all need to inject vaccines regularly to avoid infection with swine fever and the economic losses it causes. The dosage of swine fever vaccine must be appropriate, so what is the dosage of swine fever vaccine?

1. Swine Fever Vaccine Dosage

When using the vaccine, add diluent or sterile physiological saline according to the dose stated on the vaccine instructions, using the amount of diluent or sterile physiological saline required per dose as specified in the instructions. Then inject it into the pigs. The dosage should be decided according to the actual situation.

2. Types of Swine Fever Vaccine

At present, there are mainly the following three types of vaccines on the market for preventing swine fever:

1. Swine fever live vaccine (I) - rabbit-derived vaccine.

2. Swine fever live vaccine (II) - cell vaccine.

3. Swine fever live vaccine (I) - lymph node and spleen vaccine.

3. Swine Fever Vaccine Immunization Schedule

1. In areas where swine fever is not prevalent, piglets receive their first vaccination of 1 dose at 20-25 days of age, and a second vaccination of 1 dose at 60-65 days of age. Replacement pigs are vaccinated once before breeding at 8 months of age, 1 dose per pig. Breeding boars and breeding sows are vaccinated with 1 dose every 6 months, and breeding sows are vaccinated during the empty period after piglets are weaned (generally 10-14 days before breeding).

2. In areas where swine fever is prevalent: newborn piglets receive hyperimmune vaccination, that is, they are vaccinated with 2 doses immediately after birth and then allowed to suckle 1 hour later; at 35-40 days of age they receive a second vaccination of 1 dose. Replacement pigs are vaccinated once before breeding 6 months after the piglets' second vaccination, 1 dose per pig. Breeding boars are vaccinated once every six months, 1 dose per pig. Breeding sows are vaccinated once during the empty period after piglets are weaned, 1 dose per pig.

4. How to Administer Swine Fever Vaccine

1. Usage of rabbit-derived vaccine: This vaccine is injected intramuscularly or subcutaneously. When using, according to the doses stated on the bottle label, dilute with sterile physiological saline at 1 milliliter per dose; for both large and small pigs the dose is 1 milliliter. This vaccine must not be injected at the same time as bacterial vaccines. After injection of this vaccine, a small number of pigs may show a reaction within 1-2 days, but they can return to normal after 3 days. If an allergic reaction occurs after vaccination, anti-allergic drugs such as epinephrine should be injected promptly.

This vaccine should be stored protected from light at below -15°C, with a shelf life of 12 months. After dilution, this vaccine should be placed in a refrigerated container and must never be frozen. If the temperature is below 15°C, it must be used up within 6 hours; if the temperature is 15°C-27°C, it should be used up within 3 hours. The best time for injection is 2 hours after eating or before eating.

2. Usage of lymph node and spleen vaccine: This vaccine is injected intramuscularly or subcutaneously. When using, according to the doses stated on the bottle label, dilute with sterile physiological saline at 1 milliliter per dose; for both large and small pigs the dose is 1 milliliter. This vaccine should be stored protected from light at below -15°C, with a shelf life of 12 months. After dilution, the vaccine should be placed in a refrigerated container and must never be frozen. If the temperature is below 15°C, use it up within 6 hours. If the temperature is 15°C-27°C, it should be used up within 3 hours. The best time for injection is 2 hours after eating or before eating.

3. Usage of cell vaccine: This vaccine can be used for both large and small pigs. According to the doses stated on the label, after adding 1 milliliter of sterile physiological saline per dose for dilution, both large and small pigs are injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly with 1 milliliter. Immunity can be produced 4 days after injection, and the immune period after injection can reach 12 months. This vaccine is best stored at below -15°C, with a shelf life of 18 months. Before injection, it should be confirmed that there is indeed no epidemic disease in the local area. Dilute it as it is used; the diluted vaccine should be placed in a cool, dark place and used up within 2 hours. Piglets before weaning can be vaccinated with 4 doses of vaccine to prevent interference from maternal antibodies.

Different vaccines should be selected according to different situations, and the dosages of different vaccines are also different, so they should be selected according to the actual situation.
