Do Female Goats Have Horns? An Analysis of Why Female Goats Grow Horns
Goat raising has a long history in our country, and every part of the goat is useful. The goat is one of the main species of sheep raised in our country. Many people want to know, do female goats have horns?
1. Do female goats have horns
Female goats also have horns, but unlike male goats, the horns on a female goat's head are relatively small and slender.
2. The distribution of goats in our country
In China, goats are distributed across every province, municipality and autonomous region nationwide. Even in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Hainan, where sheep are not raised, goats are also found.
On the whole, China's goat population is mainly distributed in the areas north of the Yangtze River, concentrated in East China, North China and Southwest China, with fewer distributed in South China.
According to statistics, in 2003 the provinces with more than 4.5 million goats on hand included 12 provinces, Henan, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Tibet, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Anhui, Hebei, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Gansu, whose combined stock accounted for 91.60% of the national total goat stock, making them the concentrated production areas for goat production.
3. China's goat breed resources
In the "Chinese Sheep and Goat Breeds Record," 20 goat breeds are recorded, and these local breeds have many excellent traits, such as high fertility, good meat quality, fine cashmere, good quality, high yield, and specialized production performance for skin, lambskin, fur and milk.
In recent years, on the basis of these fine local breeds, China has successively introduced from abroad famous breeds such as the wool-type Angora goat, the meat-type Boer goat and the Saanen dairy goat, crossing them with native local breeds for improvement, and has bred nearly 20 new breeds such as the Nanjiang Yellow goat, the Guanzhong dairy goat and the Laoshan dairy goat.
According to their production performance, China's goat breeds can be divided into six types: common goats (dual-purpose for skin and meat), cashmere goats, dairy goats, wool goats, lambskin goats and fur goats.
The above is a brief introduction to goats, and we hope it is helpful to everyone.
