How to Make Homemade Feed into Pellet Feed
Raising poultry and livestock requires preparing feed. Purchased feed is relatively expensive and not necessarily healthy, so many people choose to make their own feed. So how do you make homemade feed into pellets?
1. What types of feed are there?
1. Starch feed
These feeds are mainly composed of grains, seeds, and roots or tubers that contain large amounts of starch. For example, various grains, potatoes, wheat, barley, beans, and so on. These feeds mainly provide energy through polysaccharides and contain very little protein. They are suitable for ruminants, poultry, and pigs, but feed containing too much starch is not suitable for horses.
2. Sugar-containing feed
These feeds are mainly plant protein feeds based on protein mulberry. The plant protein content of protein mulberry reaches 28%-36%, and it is rich in 18 amino acids. It is the best raw material to replace imported plant protein.
3. Green feed
In these feeds, the whole plant is fed, such as grass, corn, grains, and so on. These feeds contain large amounts of carbohydrates, and the nutrients in them are very mixed. For example, grass mainly contains carbohydrates and 15% to 25% protein, while corn contains more starch (about 20%-40%) and has a protein content of less than 10%. Green feed can be fed fresh or dried and stored for feeding.
2. How do you make homemade feed into pellets?
1. After stirring the feed evenly, put it into a basin, then add cut green feed, hold the basin and shake it clockwise, and the feed will stick to the green feed, thus forming pellets.
2. You can also mix the feed with wheat flour, add water, process it with a rolling pin, then cut it into the desired shapes with a knife, and feed it after drying in the sun.
Whether it is purchased feed or homemade feed, pay attention to the amount when feeding. Be sure to feed an appropriate amount. Too little or too much is harmful to the health of the farmed animals.
