How to Use Abamectin in Aquaculture
Abamectin is used to kill pests, and there are two types: it can be used on plants, and there is also one specifically for aquaculture. What is the usage method for aquaculture abamectin?
1. Usage Method for Aquaculture Abamectin
Dilute 1% abamectin with water at a ratio of 2000 times and splash evenly over the whole pond. For 1 m water depth per mu, each 100 ml bottle can be used for 4-6 mu. To suppress bloodworms, each 100 ml bottle is used for 8-10 mu.
2. Introduction to Aquaculture Abamectin
Abamectin is a white or slightly yellow crystalline powder or pale yellow solution. It is a new broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, low-toxicity antibiotic antiparasitic drug. Its insect-killing effect lies in increasing the release of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the pest body, as well as opening the Cl- channels controlled by glutamate and enhancing the permeability of the nerve membrane to Cl-, thereby blocking the transmission of nerve signals, ultimately causing nerve paralysis, depriving muscle cells of the ability to contract, and leading to the death of the pest. Commonly available on the market are 0.3%, 0.5%, and 1% abamectin solutions. It is used to kill parasitic pests such as anchor worms, Sinergasilus, fish lice, nematodes, Dactylogyrus, Gyrodactylus, and other parasites, as well as aquatic insects such as water mites and water centipedes, on the body surface of various fish, shrimp, crabs, and shellfish in monoculture and polyculture ponds and proliferation waters.
3. Precautions for Aquaculture Abamectin
1. Strictly prohibited for use during oxygen deficiency or before and after fish gulping for air at the surface;
2. Aerate promptly and for an extended time after use;
3. Prohibited when water quality deteriorates, and prohibited after a pond-wide fish kill;
4. Must not be mixed with disinfectants;
5. Use with caution in tidal flat shellfish farming;
6. Use at half the dose for fry and fingerlings.
The use of abamectin needs to be calculated according to water quality and product content, and must not be done blindly.
