1. How to ventilate a manure-pit pig house

When using the manure-pit process, a certain standard of pit fan must be installed during the construction of the pen building, together with water curtain cooling and negative pressure exhaust measures, so that the air problem inside the pig house can be effectively solved.

Pit ventilation is a type of negative pressure ventilation, drawing air in through side windows or ceiling air inlets and exhausting it through the pit exhaust pipe. The main ventilation methods of pit ventilation include ducted ventilation and interval ventilation.

1. Ducted ventilation: install air inlets above the manure storage tank and below the slatted floor, connect them with a duct the same length as the manure storage tank, and then use a negative pressure fan to exhaust the harmful gases. The air inlet must not be too large, and the gap height between the bottom of the slatted floor and the surface of the manure must not be less than 0.5 m, which is used for air flow inside the manure storage tank and to promote the discharge of toxic gases.

2. Interval ventilation: build intervals at a certain distance from the outer wall of the manure storage tank, with the intervals connected to the manure storage tank through air holes, and install exhaust fans above the intervals to discharge harmful gases through the exhaust fans. A relatively large number of pit fans are used.

2. Introduction to the manure-pit system in pig houses

The manure-pit model involves building a very deep pit below the pig house, installing a slatted floor on top, and putting water in the pit; in this way, manure and urine leak into the water below, and because the water is deep, the odor of the manure and urine is diluted, and combined with an exhaust system, the odor in the pig house is often even less than in ordinary pig houses, so the harm to the pigs is also reduced.

Notes: long-term treatment of the wastewater must be considered well, and short-term behavior should be avoided; because the country is paying more and more attention to environmental protection, the practice of discharging into rivers and ditches will not last long.

Then attention must be paid to the design of the sewage discharge pipes, especially in large pig farms, where the slope of the pipes is very small; if the pipes are also uneven in height, after a slightly longer time there will be a large amount of accumulated material, and cleaning it will be very difficult.

Next, attention must be paid to the problem of debris falling into the sewage tank, which easily clogs the pipes and makes cleaning even more difficult.

Furthermore, attention must also be paid to the slatted floor being sturdy; there are often cases in pig farms where pigs break the slatted floor and fall into the sewage tank. Although the pigs will not drown, a large amount of manpower is needed each time to fish them out, which is very troublesome.

Finally, the exhaust system design must be done well, both air intake and exhaust must meet requirements, and fans with sufficient horsepower must be equipped; otherwise the harmful gases cannot be discharged, causing great harm to the pigs.

Only by arranging the construction work of the pig house reasonably and orderly, and strengthening ventilation while using the manure-pit model, can the entire pig house continue to operate healthily and orderly.
