The white-eye bird is the collective name for 97 species of birds in the family Zosteropidae, order Passeriformes. Because its eye ring is surrounded by some obvious short white downy feathers, forming a distinctive white eye ring, it gets the name "white-eye." It lives entirely arboreal, feeding on insects, nectar and sweet soft fruits; the white-eye bird is lively in temperament and highly gregarious. Below let us look at the master's standard formula for white-eye feed.

Standard formula for white-eye feed:

Cooked soybean powder 300 g (200 g in summer), mung bean powder 200 g (300 g in summer), peanut powder 100 g, goji berry powder 30 g, cuttlefish bone powder 100 g, eggshell powder 30 g, cooked egg yolk 5.

The feed of the white-eye bird is mostly based on soybean powder, plus egg yolk and so on. In summer, some cooked mung bean powder should also be added to the feed. The ratio of bean powder to egg yolk is generally moderate at 70% bean powder mixed with 30% egg yolk; of course, according to the bird's growth needs, especially when molting is nearing its end, appropriately increasing the proportion of egg yolk is acceptable. The general ratio is: to 500 g of soybean powder add 20 egg yolks and a small amount of river shrimp, meat, salt, plus one eggshell, stir-fried or steamed. In winter, some high-fat feed can be added; to increase heat energy, you can feed a little peanut kernel, walnut kernel, peach pastry, biscuits and northern-style steamed corn bread, etc. Also avoid wind and cold.

Besides the staple food made of bean powder mixed with egg yolk as a powder feed, it must also be supplemented with a certain amount of secondary food, which is live small insects and other feed rich in animal protein.

The white-eye bird in the wild will prey on large numbers of insects, so in captivity it should be fed 3-5 large black mealworms, or small yellow breadworms, every day. The large black mealworms should be soaked in boiling water until cooked, their bellies cut open, and hung on a worm skewer for the bird to peck at. Other insects can also be fed, such as breadworms, locusts, cicadas, grasshoppers, etc. When feeding large locusts and large grasshoppers, the wings and legs should be cut off to prevent stabbing the bird's beak and esophagus.
