The body color of the phoenix fish is very beautiful. Juvenile fish have a light gray body color, and only when they reach the adult stage do they reveal their colorful appearance. It is a marine fish with high ornamental value. So, how do you keep phoenix fish?

1. How to keep phoenix fish?

It is best to use an aquarium of 45CM or more for keeping, with a water PH of 6.8-7.2 and a water temperature between 24 and 29°C. It can be kept together with other gentle-tempered fish, but a relatively large activity space should be reserved. Its breeding difficulty is not great, and the hatching rate is relatively high at 29°C. The bait is mainly turtle worms, supplemented by water earthworms, bloodworms, and yellow mealworms. It prefers live bait, but it can also accept frozen bait and artificial bait.

2. Body Shape Characteristics of the Phoenix Fish

It is a small fish with a body length of only 3~5 cm. Its body is spindle-shaped, laterally compressed, and the caudal fin is fan-shaped and not forked. The saddle-wing fish is light blue all over and covered with bright blue spots. The upper half of the mouth is orange-red, and the lower half is golden yellow.

There is a deep black horizontal stripe on the head leading to the eye, and there is also a bright blue spot on the gill cover. Each side of the body has five thick black horizontal stripes. All the fin rays are elegant golden yellow and covered with blue-green spots. It can truly be described as a riot of seven colors with flashing spots. Because the male fish's dorsal fin resembles a saddle, it is honored with the reputation of the seven-colored saddle.

3. Precautions for Keeping Phoenix Fish

1. Adding water

This refers to partial water changing. This is a simple and effective method often used in raising saddle-wing fish. Before adding water, first turn off the power to the heater, air pump, circulation filter pump, and other electrical appliances in the aquarium, then use gauze to wipe clean the moss growing on the glass on all four sides of the aquarium or on the scenery. After the water has stood for 15 minutes, all suspended matter in the water will sink to the bottom of the tank. Use a rubber tube to gently siphon out the bottom debris. The amount of water siphoned out is generally about 1/4 to 1/3 of the total water volume. Then slowly pour the prepared new water at the same temperature along the tank wall.

2. Changing water

This refers to completely replacing the aquarium water. It is the simplest and most effective way to change water quality, but the workload of changing water is relatively large, especially when the aquarium is small and has scenery, making the process complex and tedious. Before changing the water, cut off the power to all electrical appliances in the aquarium, and put all the fish and scenery into new water for temporary holding.

The breeding method for phoenix fish is not difficult. With their colorful appearance and elegant form, keeping a few at home can add vitality to your room.
