The Red Horse Flowerhorn fish is red all over its body, and its swimming posture in the water is very charming. More and more people like to keep it now, and its fading of the gauze and development of the head are also points that need special attention when raising a Red Horse. How to raise a Red Horse Flowerhorn fish better?

How to Raise a Red Horse Flowerhorn Fish

1. It needs a large water volume and high water pressure to be cared for. The fish tank is recommended to be 1-1.5 m long, 45-50 cm wide, and 60-70 cm high. A heater, filter, substrate sand, fish tank light, etc. should be installed in the tank.

2. Use the heater to keep the temperature in the tank between 30-32°C, without fluctuation; add natural ore to the filter, a large amount of Maifan stone, a small amount of coral stone, and one pack of good activated carbon. No other filter stone needs to be added, pure natural and healthy; lay some coral bone stone in the fish tank to achieve the purpose of hardening the water, and a small amount of volcanic stone can balance the pH acidity; the substrate sand should occupy 1/3 of the fish tank area, and it can be padded a bit higher, with a sense of slope being best. Generally, coral stone or white sand stone is used.

3. The Red Horse likes dim light and is relatively sensitive to light. Long-term high-brightness lighting can easily cause the color to turn white, the fins to shrink, and the fish to hide. The brightness of the fish tank light should be low. In order to relieve the Red Horse's unease after the lights are turned off at night, a landscaping volcanic bubble stone lamp with red light can be installed in the water. At night, there is no fear of the Red Horse bumping into the tank due to suddenly turning on the light. For the background, it is recommended to use a dark background, such as blue. Black is not recommended.

4. A sterilization lamp can be installed in the bottom filter. For fish tanks without a bottom filter, consider buying a built-in sterilization lamp filter, which effectively prevents water turbidity and protein explosion caused by eating fresh food. The lamp tube should be replaced regularly.

5. Raising Red Horse requires a relatively high temperature, and oxygen in the water is insufficient, so an additional oxygen pump can be installed.

6. The Red Horse likes old water. The pH is recommended to be between 6.5-7.5, and there should not be much fluctuation. When raising Red Horse, it is recommended to keep a water aging bucket at home, with some coral stone, volcanic stone, and Maifan stone placed inside. As long as the pH value is adjusted to be the same as that of the fish tank, water can be drawn directly from it during water changes, and then refilled after the change. Changing one third of the water once a month is enough.

7. When the fish is first bought back, remember not to feed it. It should be fasted for 3 days before feeding. During the fry stage of 2-7 cm, it is recommended to feed red worms, 3-4 meals a day, and it is recommended to feed until 6-7 cm; during the sub-adult stage of 7-25 cm, it is recommended to feed shrimp and head-enhancing feed such as Shouxingtou. Frozen shrimp should be thawed naturally before feeding. Fresh shrimp should first be soaked in lightly salted water for 5 minutes, rinsed with clean water for 2 minutes, and then fed. This period is very important. Many Red Horses have a slight head base at 7 cm. It is best to develop the head before 15 cm. Theoretically, the larger the head before 15 cm, the larger the head can become later. Feed 3 meals a day. When it grows to the adult stage of 25-40 cm, feeding can be reduced to two meals, morning and evening.

8. Sandbags and mirrors need to be used according to the specific condition of the fish being raised. They are not effective for all fish. As for the mirror, place it outside the tank and let the fish look at it for half an hour each day.

The main thing in raising a Red Horse is to control the water environment well, try to keep it constant, and let it grow with peace of mind.
