The milk fish, as the name suggests, is a kind of fish that drinks milk, also called wish fish. This kind of fish can be artificially bred, so how do you raise milk fish?

1. What is a milk fish?

The milk fish is a koi originally from Japan, with an average age of seventy years, and some even exceed two hundred years. Because of its long lifespan, it is regarded as a symbol of good fortune.

As an ornamental fish, in the breeding process, besides considering its growth rate, special emphasis is also placed on cultivating beauty of appearance. It is best if the water contains spring water, so that various mineral elements and other components in the water can increase the fish body's pigment, making the Japanese koi's body color more vivid and beautiful, and also ensuring sufficient dissolved oxygen.

For breeding purposes purely for viewing in courtyards and hotels, a cement pond can be built for raising them. The pond should not be too deep; 0.6-0.8 m is suitable, making it easy to view.

2. How do you raise milk fish?

Choose lively, healthy fry for breeding. Before breeding, you need to prepare a relatively large fish tank, because milk fish are group-raised fish and cannot be kept as just one.

After putting the fry into the fish tank, you also need to control the water temperature. A water temperature of around 20°C is relatively suitable for the survival of milk fish.

Milk fish are not born drinking milk. The feed needs to be mixed into water and used with a milk bottle for training, and the effect can generally be achieved in about half a month.

Feeding adopts the “four fixed” principles. Generally, feeding is divided into two times a day, morning and evening. In the morning, after sunrise; in the afternoon, before sunset. The daily feeding amount is 2%-10% of the fish body weight, and it is best if eaten within 20-30 minutes. The types of bait fed should be diverse.

The training steps for milk fish are:

1. Feed the milk fish with bait for a few days to let them become familiar with the taste of the bait, then starve them for a few days, or directly after stopping food, crush the bait into a paste;

2. Extend the nipple into the water, gently shake or squeeze the milk bottle so that the feed paste slowly flows into the water. In this way, the fish can smell the feed in the water, which stimulates appetite and makes them seek the location of the bait;

3. In the early stage, do not frighten the fish. Be patient. In this way, lure the fish about 5 times a day, and obvious results can be seen in a few days. The whole process can teach the fish to feed from a milk bottle in no more than half a month.
