1. Basic Introduction to Goldfish

Goldfish is a fish of the family Cyprinidae and the genus Carassius, and is one of the world's three most famous ornamental fish, originating in China, with a history of more than 1700 years to date.

Goldfish is an ornamental fish domesticated from the wild crucian carp. China is the first country to have domesticated goldfish. The crucian carp in nature has a body color of gray on the back and white on the belly, making it relatively easy to avoid predators in natural water. Sometimes, the pigment cells of the crucian carp mutate and cause the fish body to appear golden yellow.

In taxonomy, goldfish belongs to the same species as the crucian carp. Compared with the crucian carp, goldfish has produced enormous variation in external morphology, but on the whole the entire fish body can be divided into three parts: the head, the trunk and the tail. The foremost end of the head is the mouth, and the rear part has the nose, eyes and gill cover. Some varieties have a fleshy tumor on the upper end of the head, some varieties have a velvet ball above the nose, some varieties have protruding eyes that face upward or have water blisters, and some varieties have gill covers that protrude outward to form curled gills.
