How to Raise Mini Pigs? Breeding Methods and Key Technical Points
The mini pig is a relatively small breed of pig, and because of its cute appearance many people keep it as a pet. So how do you raise a mini pig?
1. Basic Introduction to the Mini Pig
The mini pig generally refers to the Bama miniature pig, also known as the "mini pig". It originated in ethnic minority mountainous areas. The mini pig is a miniature pig breed with characteristics such as thick lean meat, fine fibers, small fat granules, a rich aroma, early maturity and easy breeding, and it rarely exceeds 100 kg in body weight.
Pet pigs currently on the market mainly include Qili fragrant pig (Bama fragrant pig), Luchuan pig, Huanjiang fragrant pig, radish pig, Qiandongnan fragrant pig, Yibei fragrant pig, Tibetan fragrant pig, and others.
2. How Do You Raise a Mini Pig?
1. You need to prepare a clean and hygienic living environment for the mini pig, because mini pigs are afraid of the cold, and in winter you also need to prepare a blanket for warmth;
2. Mini pigs are not picky about food; ordinary fruits and vegetables can all be fed to them, and feeding three times a day is enough;
3. Mini pigs can also be trained. If you do not want your mini pig to relieve itself anywhere, you can train it in the early stages, and after training the mini pig will relieve itself in the designated place.
If you are raising mini pigs for meat, the specific feeding method is as follows:
When raising fragrant pigs, feeding green fodder is the main practice, to ensure the pork has a pure aroma. The feed for fragrant pigs is mainly roughage; crushed straw, peanut shells, peanut vines, dried sweet potato vines, and others can all be used as the main feed, while vegetable vines, carrots, tender grass, leaves, and others can all be used as green fodder.
Common pig feeds include corn, wheat, rice, wheat bran, rice bran, soybean cake, peanut cake, and others. In the pollution-free places of origin, fragrant pigs show advantages such as tolerance of rough management and strong disease resistance. However, special attention must still be paid to environmental hygiene: clean the pens regularly, wash and change utensils, disinfect, and frequently change the bedding. It is strictly forbidden to give pigs sewage to drink, or to use sewage to wash green fodder and utensils. Manure and waste should be piled up in a centralized place for disposal.
