The stone turtle is a very ancient breed, and it has always been believed to possess, like the golden coin turtle, the feng shui effect of helping its keeper improve their wealth and career luck. Therefore many people raise stone turtles, so how do you raise a stone turtle?

1. Disinfection

The disinfection treatment in the early stage of raising stone turtle hatchlings is a necessary step, to prevent pathogenic bacteria or other dangerous factors that some hatchlings may carry on their bodies. Generally, the disinfection methods are relatively mild, and povidone-iodine solution can be said to be fairly commonly used; of course, if you want to be more thorough, you can use other disinfection methods, and alternating their use can produce a good disinfection effect.

2. Temperature

Control the temperature of the environment for raising stone turtle hatchlings well, and grasp the temperature difference changes; do not blindly believe in some natural force. If the weather is cold, you still need to adopt certain methods for appropriate heating, such as an air heating room, etc., but you must pay attention to supervision; if the water temperature is too high or too low, it must be adjusted in time, so that you do not accidentally fail to raise the stone turtle hatchlings and end up making turtle soup.

3. Water Quality

As for the requirements for the water quality environment in stone turtle hatchling breeding, because they are hatchlings, the water-changing frequency generally still needs to be somewhat higher; after all, the excretory waste produced by concentrated breeding of seedlings has a very serious impact on water quality. Of course, do not change the water too diligently; normally maintaining it at once or twice a day is enough, and once in the morning and once in the evening is quite suitable.

4. Feeding

Raising stone turtle hatchlings in their juvenile period requires the cooperation of breeding food. Hatchlings are not like those delicate ornamental fish; they are still quite suitable for being fed red worms (widely available and inexpensive). If you are not raising many, then you need to control the amount of food fed each time; everyone wants to eat fresh food. The stone turtle hatchlings' dependence on food should be adjusted slowly; do not let the stone turtle hatchlings become addicted to food, and keep it controlled to reduce the probability of obesity.

5. Management

As for the transition of stone turtle hatchling breeding into the growth stage, in the newborn period the stone turtle population should be properly divided into separate trays for breeding. If the density of stone turtle hatchlings is relatively high, they are very likely to compete and crowd each other out among their own kind. But at the same time, also note that if the size difference is relatively obvious, then tray separation treatment is needed (without tray separation treatment, contradictions among large and small stone turtle hatchlings will arise over multiple factors such as food and space); the breeding density should be controlled as much as possible.

6. Disease Prevention and Treatment

Finally, let us talk about the prevention and treatment of common diseases in stone turtle hatchlings. Many nutrients that we humans need are of great use to the stone turtle; you can brew VC powder so that stone turtle hatchlings can reduce the chance of bacterial infection in the newborn period. In addition, you can add an appropriate amount of vitamin powder to the food being fed; do not use too much at one time, otherwise it can easily pollute the water quality.

Stone turtles are relatively easy to raise and also have very long lifespans; even if you are a beginner, you can still raise them quite well.
