Is sheep manure acidic or alkaline? Explained clearly in one article
Sheep manure, as the name suggests, is the dung of sheep. Since ancient times, China has had the habit of making manure into fertilizer, and sheep manure can also be made into organic fertilizer, so is sheep manure acidic or alkaline?
1. Is sheep manure acidic or alkaline?
Sheep manure is a slightly alkaline manure. Sheep manure is often used to make organic fertilizer, but it can only be used after fermentation. The fertilizer produced is suitable for alkaline land and poor land, and can increase crop yields.
2. How is sheep manure organic fertilizer made?
1. Mix sheep manure with an appropriate amount of straw powder. How much to mix in depends on the moisture content of the sheep manure; fermentation generally requires a moisture content of 45%;
2. Add cornmeal and microbial inoculant. The role of the cornmeal is to increase the sugar content for the microbial inoculant to ferment;
3. Put the prepared mixture into a mixer and stir. The stirring must be even and thorough, with no raw clumps left. Pile the mixed ingredients into long strips 1.5 m-2 m wide and 0.8 m-1 m high, and turn them with a windrow turner once every 2 days;
4. After piling for 2 days it heats up, 4 days it has no odor, 7 days it becomes loose, 9 days it becomes fragrant, and 10 days it becomes fertilizer. On the 2nd day of piling, the temperature can reach 60°C-80°C, killing E. coli, insect eggs and other pests and diseases. On the 4th day, the odor of the sheep manure is eliminated; on the 7th day, the compost becomes loose and dry, covered with white mycelium; on the 9th day, it gives off a distiller's yeast aroma; on the 10th day, the microbial fertilizer is fully fermented.
5. After slightly air-drying, it can be crushed with a semi-wet material crusher, granulated with an organic fertilizer granulator, then dehydrated with a dryer, and then screened with a sieve. The finished organic fertilizer is ready and can be packed and stored.
The nutrients contained in sheep manure and urine are relatively rich. They include both effective nutrients that are easily decomposed and can be absorbed and used by crops, and slow-release nutrients that are not easily decomposed. It is a good fertilizer that combines fast and slow fertilizer effects.
