A Comprehensive Analysis of Golden Cicada Farming Techniques and Yield
Golden cicada farming is a relatively hot topic right now, and many friends who want to start their own businesses will consider this project. So have you ever learned about the farming techniques and yield of golden cicadas? Let's take a look together!
1. Golden cicada farming techniques and yield
The yield of artificially farmed golden cicadas mainly depends on the number farmed. Healthy tree species with more sap can be selected, and some root crops can be intercropped, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, Chinese yam, and so on. Normally, the normal growth and development of the host plant root system must be ensured, and in winter a moderate amount of straw can be added as cover. Adults that have emerged or been collected can mate and lay eggs, and the harvesting work and transplanting are carried out around the summer solstice each year.
2. Precautions for golden cicada farming
(1) According to many years of farming practice and repeated experiments, the golden cicada egg stage is generally about 280 days to 300 days. By July, golden cicada eggs have begun to die off in large numbers, their vitality decreases, and death occurs before hatching (even fewer remain on poplar branches), and death is especially likely during the hatching process. The survival rate is less than 10% of normal conditions.
(2) Golden cicada egg branches produced in the same year cannot hatch small golden cicadas, because they have a dormant period. Therefore, only egg branches from the previous year can hatch. Do not be misled by the unscientific promises of some farms that golden cicadas can be hatched and farmed at any time.
(3) Some farms say that as long as they are hatched, they can be planted even if no small golden cicadas are seen. This is pure nonsense. The consequence of planting this way can only be said to be an extremely low survival rate of below 1%, and the cycle takes as long as five years. Others say they can be planted without hatching, in which case the survival rate can only be said to be around 0%. So if you want to farm golden cicadas, you must grasp the timing of hatching and planting. Do not listen to some irresponsible farms that still let you plant in August or September, or let you plant even when no small golden cicadas have been seen after hatching. You must plant well-hatched egg branches, and you must be able to see small golden cicadas wriggling.
