What are the natural enemies of spider mites? Introduction to common natural enemy species
The spider mite, also known as the cotton spider mite, commonly called large spider, large dragon, sand dragon, etc., with the scientific name Tetranychus. It is widely distributed, feeds on a wide range of plants, and can damage more than 110 plant species. So what are the natural enemies of spider mites?
1. What are the natural enemies of spider mites
The natural enemies of spider mites include Chrysopa sinica (Chinese green lacewing), mite-eating ladybirds, predatory mites, Harmonia axyridis (multicolored Asian ladybird), small green lacewings, small flower bugs, phytoseiid mites, and others. They play a positive role in controlling spider mite populations. Therefore, when controlling pests, do not harm the natural enemies.
2. Chemical control methods for spider mites
Use a 1000-fold dilution of 10% fenbutatin oxide and pyridaben emulsifiable concentrate (such as Guoguang Hongsha) or a mixture of a 1000-fold dilution of 10% fenbutatin oxide and pyridaben emulsifiable concentrate (such as Guoguang Hongsha) plus a 3000-fold dilution of 5.7% emamectin benzoate emulsifiable concentrate (such as Guoguang Leke) and spray for control. It is recommended to apply twice in a row, with an interval of 7-10 days.
3. Agricultural control of spider mites
According to the biological habits of spider mites, agricultural, physical, and chemical control measures can be applied.
(1) Manual control: before overwintering eggs hatch, scrape off the bark and burn it in a centralized manner; after scraping, whitewash the trunk (with limewater) to kill most of the overwintering eggs.
(2) Agricultural control: according to the hatching pattern of overwintering spider mite eggs and the habit of feeding and reproducing on weeds first after hatching, plow the soil in early spring and clear the weeds on the ground, keeping the field free of weeds during the hatching period of overwintering eggs, so that spider mites die because they cannot find food
(3) Physical control: before jujube trees sprout and before the jujube spider mite is about to climb the tree to cause damage (about late April), apply non-toxic non-drying insect glue to the middle of the trunk in a closed sticky ring, about 1 cm wide, and apply it again after about 2 months, which can prevent the jujube spider mite from moving onto the tree to cause damage, with an effect of more than 95%.
(4) Biological control: there are many species of jujube spider mite natural enemies in the field. According to surveys, they mainly include Chrysopa sinica (Chinese green lacewing), mite-eating ladybirds, and predatory mites, among which Chrysopa sinica has a relatively large population and a relatively large predation capacity on jujube spider mites. Protecting and increasing the number of natural enemies can enhance their control effect on jujube spider mite populations.
(5) Chemical control: apply a 4000-5000-fold dilution of Manwei (100 ml per bottle mixed with 800-1000 jin of water) for uniform spraying, a 1000-1500-fold dilution of 40% dicofol emulsifiable concentrate, a 2000-fold dilution of 20% clofentezine wettable powder, a 2000-fold dilution of 15% pyridaben emulsifiable concentrate, a 6000-8000-fold dilution of 1.8% abamectin emulsifiable concentrate, etc., all of which can achieve ideal control effects.
