What are the natural enemies of the cassowary? These animals threaten its survival

The cassowary generally refers to the cassowary, which is tall and large, with the largest cassowary standing 150 cm tall. It has a protective keratinous helmet on top of its head. So what are its natural enemies?

What are the natural enemies of the cassowary?

The cassowary is the most dangerous bird in the world and has almost no natural enemies; if it has any at all, it is only humans. As the third largest bird in the world, the cassowary is second only to the ostrich and the emu, standing 1.5 m to 1.8 m tall, with some even reaching 2 m tall and weighing up to 60 kg. It is also commonly known as the “murder bird.”

What does the cassowary eat?

The cassowary is frugivorous, feeding mainly on canopy species in the forests where they live. These include Egypt plum, Syzygium polyanthum, Monoon simplex, Acronychia saccharifera and a large number of fruits from the Lauraceae family. In addition, their food varies with the seasons; their main food is berries, and they sometimes also eat insects, small fish, birds and rodents.

Why is the cassowary dangerous?

1. The first lethal feature of the cassowary is the casque on its head. The casque is huge and hard and is used for pushing through grass. When it encounters a threat, the cassowary will attack with its casque, with tremendous force.

2. The second lethal feature of the cassowary is its sharp claws. Its foot has three toes, and the middle toe is the most deadly, measuring 130 mm, like a dagger; a single kick from the cassowary can disembowel and kill an enemy.

So friends traveling to Australia must not enter the cassowary's territory, to avoid danger.
