1. Feeding
Red-eared sliders can be said to eat just about anything. Their food includes animal feed such as various freshwater and saltwater fish, aquatic insects, and eggs, as well as plant feed such as corn, wheat, soybeans, and fruits and vegetables. You can also feed them additives such as cod liver oil, malt, and dry yeast.
2. Temperature
In the south, the difference in water temperature across the four seasons is not very great, so they are generally very active in spring, summer, and autumn, and hibernate in winter, with the effect of temperature being relatively small. But in the north, the water temperature needs to be adjusted appropriately, and a heating rod can be used to heat it as needed.
3. Disease
Red-eared sliders may encounter diseases during their growth, so owners should understand common diseases and pay attention to prevention. If symptoms of disease appear, they should promptly apply the right treatment.
4. Light
Red-eared sliders need the opportunity to receive direct sunlight. The enclosure can be placed on a balcony or windowsill. If that is not possible, young turtles must be given ultraviolet exposure once or twice a week, for about three to five minutes each time. Do not expose them to blazing sun.
5. Wiping
Turtles need to bask in the sun daily to meet their calcium conversion needs, and this paint will affect their absorption and conversion of sunlight, seriously affecting the turtle's health and leading to the appearance of disease. We can use nail polish remover to remove the painted decoration from their shells.
